Ben is Of Counsel to Greenbridge. His practice includes cannabis, complex commercial contracts, privacy, regulatory, M&A, IP (trademark, trade secret, and copyright), and general corporate matters.
After spending his first ten years as a litigator, he pivoted to business and cannabis law. From 2013 to 2018, Ben was general counsel for a commercial litigation investment firm where he underwrote over 350 commercial lawsuits and managed the firm’s investments with anticipated returns of $500M. From 2018 until 2020, he was general counsel for a large California-based cannabis investment firm with over $100M AUM. In that role, Ben led the fund and its 30+ portfolio companies’ handling of cannabis, corporate, banking, employment, and intellectual property matters. He steered the fund’s efforts to obtain numerous competitive licenses in Los Angeles, including under the 2019 social equity program, and in multiple emerging out-of-state markets (e.g., Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey). Ben also managed the regulatory aspects of the fund’s successful 1,000-acre industrial hemp cultivation, California’s largest to date. Additionally, Ben’s experience includes preparing cannabis filings, developing and implementing risk management and anti-money laundering protocols, establishing cannabis banking relationships, and responding to state and local agency inquiries.
Ben is certified as a commercial cannabis expert (CCCE) by the Association of Certified Commercial Cannabis Experts.
